I wish I had a better way with words when it comes to saying "Thank
You" to certain people but I just can’t seem to ever find the
words to tell how I really feel. There are so many people who deserve
special thanks for the things they do that I would need to write a
book to cover them all. Invariably I would leave someone out and that
is something I never want to do.
I’ve often said that it’s not important how much you do but that
you do what you can. It’s all relative. Some people are capable of
spending large amounts of time or money to help kids and others just
don’t have the means to do anymore than take the time for a short
prayer or to send a few dollars that they really can’t afford. Each
persons helping hand no matter how big or small helps us to help kids.
We never know which dollar it is that might find the cure to Cystic
Fibrosis, Childhood Diabetes or Childhood Cancer. Each dollar we receive
puts us one step closer to being able to grant a sick or disadvantaged
child an Outdoor Wish and maybe make their life a little better. Each
minute worked by one of the many volunteers helps to put a smile on
a child’s face. There is an old saying that rings so true when it
comes to the people who help us to help kids. "Never is a person
as tall as when they stoop to help a child".
I figure the best way to thank everyone who has worked so hard, in
so many ways to help Benefit4Kids is to let you know what you’ve accomplished
with your hard work for this shoot.
No less than 7 well deserving kids received new bows this year at
no cost to them or their parents at the shoot this year.
You helped to put hunting equipment into the hands of a whole bunch
of well deserving kids and smiles on the faces of hundreds.
You affected the lives of literally hundreds of kids and their families
this past weekend and helped to show the hunting and outdoor community
in a bright light.
You made many a grown up shed tears, not of sadness but tears of
joy and enlightenment.
You’ve enabled Benefit4Kids to once again support The Great Lakes
Burn Camp, R.O.C.K. (Reaching Out to Cancer Kids) Camp, Camp Wilderness
and Camp Copaconic (Michigan Diabetes Youth Camp).
On Sunday morning you allowed us to present a check for $500 to the
newly formed Macomb County Shooting Sports 4H Club. It was formed
by a group of kids that are working hard to involve more kids in the
outdoors at a time when video games and MTV seem to be the norm for
kids their age.
You’ve given us the opportunity to donate $500 to Hunting for a Cure
to help in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that affects
over 30,000 kids each year and has no known cure. Maybe, just maybe
that $500 will be instrumental in finding the cure to this terrible
childhood disease.
Right now we’re working on sending 2 children on "Outdoor Wish"
hunts that they otherwise may not be able to go on. One child has
Cystic Fibrosis and another a congenital heart disease. Without your
continued support we would not be able to help these kids enjoy the
outdoors we all love so much.
There will be more "items" added to the list above and
as the year progresses I would like all of you to remember that it
was you that made these things possible. You are the reason we decided
to attach the saying "Big Hearts Helping Kids" to Benefit4Kids
for without all of your support we can do little.
From the bottom of our hearts and the depths of our souls, Thank
You for helping us to help kids.
