Even though our shooter numbers were down from last year it was as usual an awesome weekend.
Thanks to everyone at our auction who dug deep in these tough economic times and to all of those who sponsored targets for us this year it looks like our NET from the shoot this year will be between $17,000 and $18,000 for the kids. Not to bad considering last year we had 71 more shooters and more people at the auction and we did just over $19,000.
I can't say it often enough or loud enough YOU FOLKS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! It's because of all of you we are able to make a difference in the lives of some very special children.
As for Special Moments and Memories what can I say. The folks in attendance at our shoot never cease to amaze me.
One of my very special moments was finally having the chance to meet Pete Odland and his wonderful boys Jeffery and Dylan. I can assure you that they are every bit as special as I thought they'd be. Jeffery is so polite and well mannered and Dyland proved to be the little fireball everyone told me about. You'll have to look long and hard to find better folks and I look forward to seeing them at the HFC Camouflage Ball and having a chance to meet Pete's lovely wife Bobbie.
Having the chance to surprise our Wish Kid Mark Golden with his deer mount on Saturday before the auction and having Mark Austin show up on Sunday with his Buffalo head were really special moments. When Mark Austin's Mom whispered to me that Mark is in FULL REMISSION and she felt that what B4K did for him was a big part of why I was so choked up I could hardly speak.
Before I go I want to thank all of you who did so much to help B4K this year and in years past. There's so many names that for me to try and list them all here would probably crash Pat's server. I do have to mention my thanks to MLA and MBH for all the help they've given us over the years. A special thanks to Huron Point Sportman's Association for the use of their club and grounds at no cost to B4K. Also to the unsung heroes who work so hard throughout the weekend to make sure things run smoothly. Edsel, Bernie, Rob, Bill, Dave...oh heck you all know who you are. I love you all.
